Camp Day!

Today is the day we have been talking about, thinking about, and looking forward to since February, when we registered Janelle for Diabetes Camp. My daughter could not have been more excited to go!

Janelle is a very smart, independent, confident, self-assured little girl. These characteristics make going away from home for a week a welcome idea for her.

I am so happy and grateful that she gets to have this wonderful, amazing experience but I can honestly say that I don't know how I am going to get through this week without her! I miss her SO much already. Not being able to talk to her makes it harder. Being here without her is just weird and not something I think I like!

Waiting in line to get on the bus.

Getting ready to board the bus

Bye Peanut. We'll miss you!

  1. With every fiber of my being, I know how hard it was to say goodbye to her today. But look at that smile! She is so ready for this. I can see why you are so proud of her...she is amazing!

  2. Look at her face, she does look so darn happy.
My 17 year old daughter went away in May for 3 weeks. I had very mixed feelings too. I think for mother's it doesn't get easier. Wait till she gets married.

  3. She's so grown up. OMGSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Janelle!!!!! I know she's going to have a great time. Right now, she's probably having the time of her life!!!!!!!!

Oh, but a mommy's heart....OH SWEET HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You did great, Leigh. I'm so blessed to have you to pave the way for us. I'm not sure how I'm going to actually walk away from the bus when it's my turn!!!!

  4. Watching her disappear into that bus and walking away was SO hard!
At this moment, I can't even bear to think about the day she goes to college, or gulp...gets married!

  5. I think it's awesome that you let her go to camp! You are such a great mom!!

My son was diagnosed in early March and heads to his first camp in a couple weeks. It's not overnight, but I'm still a nervous wreck---I can only imagine how you must feel!

But it'll be so good for her. And you, too.
